The Cornerstone Collective – Founder Story
My name is David Garcia, founder of The Cornerstone Collective.
I was raised in South Central Los Angeles in a family built on hard work, sacrifice, and resilience. Growing up with five sisters, a hardworking father, and a mother who always made sure our family was provided for, I learned early the value of perseverance and loyalty.
Like many young people in underserved communities, I faced challenges that led me down a difficult path. I dropped out of high school and became involved in things that could have defined the rest of my life. Along the way, I experienced violence, racism, discrimination, disrespect, and the struggles that many people from Black and Hispanic communities know all too well. I saw firsthand how our neighborhoods often face the same hardships, the same obstacles, and the same judgments.
But I also learned something powerful: despite our different backgrounds, cultures, and histories, we share many of the same experiences, dreams, and struggles. The divisions placed between us often hide the fact that we have far more in common than we realize.
That belief became the foundation of The Cornerstone Collective.
This brand is more than clothing. It is a movement built on unity, respect, culture, and community. It represents people who have overcome adversity, who refuse to be defined by their circumstances, and who believe that stronger communities are built when we stand together instead of apart.
The Cornerstone Collective exists to bring people together, celebrate our roots, and remind future generations that our differences are not weaknesses—they are the pieces that make our foundation stronger.
We come from different roots, but we make one foundation.
